Protect Point Pleasant parkland with responsible enhancements
As a parent who raised two wonderful children in Point Pleasant, I’m a long-time promoter of increasing athletic opportunities for our youth and the benefit to all community members by having clean, safe spaces for outdoor recreation.
Seeing a need for action in this department, I helped found the Point Boro Wrestling Club, then volunteering for eight years as coach.
It also motivated me to spearhead the development of Heritage Park while serving Point Pleasant as Borough Council President.
While Heritage Park is a wonderful recreational asset, our community has surpassed it’s capacity and would benefit immensely from redevelopment of the long-vacant, three-acre field on Arnold Avenue.
As with Heritage Park, this property can be enhanced with the addition of walking paths, benches, low-level lighting, trees, fields for our many youth sports leagues to play and practice on, and racket courts.
We could go further by repurposing the recently decommissioned water plant as a pocket park.
These and most other improvements can be performed by Point Pleasant’s Public Works Department, without the need for costly outside developers, helping contain costs.
As your next mayor, I will continue working to preserve Point Pleasant as a healthy, clean, and safe environment for all residents, but especially young families and sincerely ask for your vote this coming Tuesday, November 8.
Thank you,
